Dr. Sheta is the founder and CEO of Ashraf Sheta for consultancy and training company; he works as an adjunct assistant professor for entrepreneurship and family business at an American university. His academic and nonacademic work is diversified, mainly in entrepreneurship, small business development, strategic planning, innovation, and family business.

Possessing practical entrepreneurial experience is a crucial dimension in the career of Dr. Sheta. He was the GM of the Shetatex Company for weaving from 1990 till May 2012. With more than 25 years of experience in the field of textiles.

Dr. Sheta authored and co-authored more than 40 teaching cases addressing the Egyptian context for the academic dimension. He is the winner of the second prize award of the AUC/Emerald case writing competition in 2020. He is the winner of the EFMD award for case writing in the field of family business 2019. He is the winner of the silver award Stellar Teaching and Activities Recognition (STAR) 2018/2019 to recognize faculty who adequately demonstrate the extent and nature of alignment between their teaching and other activities with the AUC Business School's vision, mission, themes, and focus on Internationalization and Arab relevance. He is the winner of two Performance awards for contributions from the board of trustees of the AUC for the academic years 2018 and 2019. He won the adjunct faculty teaching excellence award at the AUC in 2016. He developed and delivered new courses for the first time in Egypt, including Family business, Innovation and Technology, Corporate entrepreneurship, and Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset.

For the consultancy and training dimension, Sheta is an entrepreneurship, small business development, Innovation, Strategy, and Family business expert. He worked with prominent organizations in the fields of training and consultancy; GIZ, UNESCO, Transparency International, European Union, USAID, the international labor organization ILO, the international organization of Migration IOM, Executive Education at the AUC, and the Women Entrepreneurship and leadership program WEL developed by Wharton school of business and financed by Goldman Sachs. He also won the Certificate of performance excellence from the AUC executive education for the year 2014,2015,2016,2017. 

Addressing the public service dimension, Dr. Sheta is the former president and board member of the Middle East Council for small business and Entrepreneurship MAKSABY, an affiliate of the international committee for small business ICSB with a strategic plan for promoting and supporting entrepreneurship and small business in the MENA region. He is also a member of the ICSB academy instructors in entrepreneurship and innovation with a plan to promote entrepreneurship education internationally. He was the vice president of the Egyptian junior business association EJB. He was responsible for developing the Egyptian national business plan in partnership with the Center for international private enterprises CIPE for three consecutive years till November 2009, tackling 14 different industries in Egypt. He was also a founder of the Egyptian textiles technology center and a textile trade center steering committee member.
